Innovation is the driving force of any industry – and uniform is no different. At the NAUMD Awards 2021, the following manufactures proved how innovation can help one rise against unforeseen odds, and deliver solutions that have never been thought before, and in turn, bring about changes that can potentially shape the future of an industry.

Here’s presenting the winners of NAUMD Innovation Awards 2021 – the top 6 manufacturers that took innovation in their strive to pave their way to the top.

  1. Best Badge/Emblem Design
    Winner: VH Blackinton

Using proprietary chemical and digital printing technology, VH Blackinton created a completely customized coloring of an agency’s existing metal badge.

No manufacturer previously has managed to produce a multi-colored badge as they use stencil/hand masking methods only.
  2. Best Public Safety Product Innovation
Winner: Luly Yang Couture for Luly Mask

As the pandemic broke out, Luly Yang involved herself in supporting the PPE efforts of the local community. Soon enough, Luly with her commitment to safety, found herself creating innumerable patterns of face masks with her pattern makes, textile experts, and designs. The final prototype of which came to be famously known as the Luly Mask.

These highly comfortable masks are as flexible as they can get without compromising on the quality. With 3D meshwork, filter pocket, and nose bridge, these masks provide increased breathability and safety at the workplace so you can stay focused at work.
  3. Best Garment Innovation, Function
Winner: CID Resources/Superior Group of Companies, WonderWink Renew & Indy Apparel

WonderWink Renew is the first full-cycle range of sustainable medical apparel designed to transform the way sustainability is perceived. Each piece of garment in this range is made out of five recycled water bottles. Combined with spandex, the fabrics turned out to be both comfortable and durable which signifies that sustainability can go hand-in-hand with fashion and performance.

On the other hand, WonderWink Indy – Fashion Seal Healthcare and Wonderwink, both part of Superior Group of Companies, came together to develop highly durable scrubs that can withstand the rigors of industrial laundry processing. It’s designed using 100% microfiber polyester technology with mechanical stretch, tested for colorfastness and durability through industrial laundry processing.
  4. Best Garment Innovation, Comfort
    Winner: Elbeco, CX360 Uniform Collection

The CX360 uniform range is designed to withstand the tough conditions of the street while still being comfortable and retaining a professional outlook. The collection comprises a button-front shirt, trousers, and an undervest shirt that can be layered under protective vests. The shirt has faux buttons and is closed by a hidden zipper, and the trouser has three variants: 5 pockets plain front pant, covert cargo pant, and external cargo pant.

The special Nanospun 4-way Stretch fabric used in making this uniform line wins it the award for innovation. It makes the clothing lightweight, spill & wrinkle-resistant, and non-absorbent in nature.
  5. Best Digital Technological Innovation
    Winner: Logistik Unifcorp, RFID Technology

During an external audit, Logistik Unicorp was asked to do a complete cycle count of all their items. Now, to count 2.5 million items manually within their 220,000 square feet warehouse, would take over 4000 hours. An impossibly large amount of time that can only be saved with technological innovation.

They immediately took to implementing Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) at the item level to scan their entire inventory spanning over 5 million items that move through their warehouse in a year, and successfully managed to save on time & money, while expediting the operation.
  6. Best Fabric Innovation
Winner: BeauTela (Eco-friendly Corporate Wear & Uniform Program)
