UK-based workwear textile manufacturer, Carrington Textiles, exporting to over 80 countries around the globe and producing about 55 million meters of fabric annually, has come up with 9 new sustainable fabrics.

These fabrics are made up of recycled polyester, BCI, organic cotton, and a completely new technology that biodegrades synthetic fibers and is all set to be used for the first time in workwear fabrics.

To introduce its sustainable line of fabrics, Carrington launched a new campaign with the tagline “Weaving Sustainability into Our Fabrics” that includes the company’s revamped fabric range guide in a brand-new identity & design.

The new range guides were made using 100% recyclable paper and coated with an anti-microbial agent to ensure consumer safety. In terms of look & feel, Carrington resorted to a more dynamic appeal coupled with sleek photography to better capture the essence of modern workwear.

All that you need to know about Carrington’s new sustainable fabrics:

  1. Stretch Products: Named after European lakes, Constance 210 gsm and Balaton 255 gsm are the two new products under the stretch category. They are Carrington’s sustainable alternatives to workwear fabric ‘Idra’ & ‘Cresta’ respectively. The fabrics are an amalgamation of REPREVE recycled polyester obtained from plastic bottles, BCI cotton, and XLANCE ® that is eco-friendly, solvent-free and produced from 100% renewable energy.
  2. Balance Range Weaved Sustainability: The balance range adds 7 new fabrics to Carrington’s existing line of eco-friendly textiles. The lightest of them is Kielder 185 gsm that is made up of 50% BCI cotton & 50% REPREVE polyester obtained from plastic bottles. It’s an eco-friendly alternative to Cooltex Lite and offers a soft feel, polyester face for better durability, and cotton inside for added wearer comfort.

Dealmere 210 gsm (sustainable alternative for Delta) & 245 gsm (sustainable alternative for Tomboy) respectively have found their ways into the additions. They include 65% recycled REPREVE polyester and responsibly sourced cotton from the Better Cotton Initiative.
  3. Biodegradable Workwear Fabric: Carrington has started to use CiCLO technology, a sustainable textiles ingredient as an additive that’s combined with polyester to make the fabric. When CiCLO polyester ends up in the environment either through washing or when garments are discarded, it acts as natural fibers, combating microplastic pollution & textile accumulation.
  4. Durable Flame Retardant with Antistatic Addition: Flamestat 250 gsm is the latest addition to the Flamestat family that is destined to last through the lifetime of the garment because of its durable & robust construction. With 75% cotton, 24% polyester, and 1% antistatic, this fabric’s flame retardancy is to the standards EN ISO 11612, EN ISO 14116 index 3, and EN ISO 11611; while its antistatic properties are to EN ISO 1149-3-5 standard.
