A Marine Corps uniform board set to meet later this spring is considering eight new policy recommendations for issues including umbrellas, hairstyles, and jewelry.

A few other changes include a standard dress blue waistplate with the Marine Corps emblem in the middle for those ranked E-5 and below, and different changes in accordance with attire remittances for selection representatives, drill educators and Marines on memorial service detail

“Marines are able to concur with the proposed changes, maintain the status quo with no changes, or skip proposals entirely,” the statement said of the survey

Two of the suggestions in the review are for hairdos, with one for female Marines with medium or long hair to be able to wear braids or ponytails if the action is considered “battle preparing” or a wellbeing risk.

Amid physical preparing, women with medium-length hair can wear it in a “half ponytail,” or a style where the top portion of the hair is pulled once more from the face in a braid and the base portion of the hair hangs free.

Another hairstyle suggestion would require female Marines with long hair to keep it “appropriately secured up” consistently when they are wearing the shirt of their battle utility uniform, even during physical exercises, for example, the battle wellness test.

Ladies with medium-length hair would probably have it in a half ponytail while wearing the blouse amid physical exercises.

Female marines are currently only allowed to wear gold earrings, but they are also proposing whether they should be allowed to wear silver earrings or not with their service uniform.

For umbrellas, the board is thinking about a suggestion that will allow all Marines to carry little, black umbrellas, which only female Marines are currently allowed to do

The board is additionally considering endorsement for four supplemental uniform recompense demands for Marines with specific obligations including a Recruiter School and drill teachers at Officer Candidate School. The commandant of the Marine Corps will settle on an official conclusion on the uniform strategy suggestions.
