Based out of Greensboro, North Carolina, Burlington Industries LLC has stated that they will be supplying the U.S. Army with “wool blended fabrics” made at its facilities in Raeford and Cordova, N.C. for their recently updated green service uniform.

Burlington Industries will also be producing fabric for the jacket, tie, and bottoms. American Woolen Company will be producing fabric for a portion of the uniforms as well.

In a separate, but related announcement, the NCTO (National Council of Textile Organizations) has praised the National Defense Authorization Act by the senate for making it easier for the military to be able source goods from textile manufacturers in the U.S.

The house is expected to vote in July after holding hearings on the NDAA earlier this month with the house’s Armed Services Committee.

Concerning new uniform, Burlington Industries said it was “honored to be an integral part of the defense supply chain for over 55 years” and said the advancement of the new “Armed force administration uniform texture” was a procedure that has been in progress “for more than two years in partnership with the Defense Logistics Agency, the U.S. Armed force, and a few private industry accomplices.”

Burlington also said the new uniform’s design was inspired by World War ll-era uniforms and “has focused on one core concept – serving the men and women of the U.S. Armed Forces” and are “expected to be provided throughout the Army by 2020.”

Burlington did not announce the cost of supplying fabric, but the U.S. Army has stated in the media that the new uniform was designed to last a lifetime.
